Wood works

Wood was raw material essential to the life in the valley: it was a source of energy for heating the house and for cooking food; it was used for trussing roofs, for flooring and for making doors, windows and shutters. Wood was used to make furniture, farm tools and everyday objects like panniers, baskets, rakes, wine kegs and fermenting vats. Transport techniques were essential and had to be adapted to the features of the mountains.

The collection of models reproduce the various stages of preparation of wood, cut from different parts, processing and squaring up to the various transport technologies
