Viticulture and wine making

Vines were very popular long ago in the low and middle Germanasca Valley. From Pomaretto up to Pomeifrč, on the sides exposed to sunlight, small terraces held up by dry-stone walls were used to grow vines. In the vineyards, small huts were built to be used as wine cellars, as tool-shed and also as a temporary shelter for the farmers who lived in far-off villages. The most famous wine is called “Ramie”, and it was once produced only from some of the vineyards grown in Pomaretto.

An educational itinerary for school groups is also proposed on this subject.
